About Us

For all research personnel

The UNC-NRP is a peer group that is open to all research personnel at UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC Health to help increase awareness and communication of best practices through a series of educational seminars, resources, mentoring, and networking programs. We are excited to have this forum to facilitate improvements in the overall management of clinical, social, and translational research.

We invite all individuals involved with human subjects research to join the UNC NRP listserv. Through the listserv, we share information including updates and guidance from central offices, information about upcoming NRP educational and social events, and communications from NRP members. The listserv is a vital tool for resource and knowledge-sharing among research professionals.

Susan Moist, MPH, CCRP

Chair

Susan is the Director of Clinical Trial Operations for the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease (CGIBD). Prior to joining UNC, she worked in substance abuse and mental health research, as well as with a pediatric epidemiology center. She started with UNC and the CGIBD in 2010 as a clinical research coordinator and was able to build on her experience, education, and training to grow personally and professionally during her tenure. She joined the NRP in 2014 and is passionate about professional development, mentorship, fostering growth, and building meaningful relationships within the UNC research community.

Paula Steele, CCRC

Education Coordinator

Paula has dedicated 30 years to clinical research at UNC, holding SC and Manager roles across various therapeutic areas. Recently, she took on the leadership of the newly established Clinical Research Navigation Hub (CRNH) under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research. Paula has been actively engaged in NRP since 2017 and numerous committees throughout her UNC career. Her prior experience and new role with CRNH have fueled her passion for training and educating the research community at UNC. As the NRP Education Coordinator, she is excited to collaborate with peers in training the next generation of UNC clinical research.

Summer Choudhury, MPH

Secretary

Summer joined UNC in 2009 as an ELSI Fellow at the Center for Genomics & Society, working on decision-making in Fragile X Syndrome. In 2010, she started in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine where she spent over a decade managing clinical trials in various therapeutic areas. In her current position, she is the Program Manager for the Recruitment & Retention Program at NC TraCS. Her research interest and publications focus on patient outcomes, health communication, and research decision-making. As Secretary, she is looking forward to enhancing communications and learning from the diverse experiences of our NRP members across the UNC research enterprise.
